School Days, School Days—A Musical Celebration of Tubac’s Territorial Teachers and Times
The life and times of teachers and students over 100 years ago will come alive during a musical celebration at the 1885 Tubac School House on the grounds of the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park on January 29 at 2 p.m.
School Days, School Days is the result of a two-week artist residency collaboration between the Lowe House Project and the Montessori de Santa Cruz public charter school. Resident artist, Sharman Nittoli— musician, music educator, and composer will assist students with the composition and performance of songs based on the historical accounts of early Tubac school teachers, recollections of students and other research. Nittoli—a composer of “Here’s to the Band” made popular by Frank Sinatra—will perform original works written specifically for School Days, School Days.
The Montessori de Santa Cruz is a public charter school in Tubac serving pre-school through sixth grade.
The Lowe House Project is a non-profit endeavor offering workshops, facilities for creative groups and artist residencies. Artists accepted to the residency program are required to develop a body of work integrating Tubac’s cultural heritage and provide an educational offering to the community at large.
$10 fee includes admission to Tubac Presidio. For reservations, call 520-398-2252. For more information, contact [email protected].
